hong kong

Well we hope that you are still all on a high from the first found of the KTA as we head for round two in Hong Kong. The first KTA was a great success, with a great location, some great riding and of course some excellent wind - so no pressure then for Hong Kong !

Still come what may the KTA and its local organising partners the KHKA are working flat out to ensure the event and your visit to Hong Kong is a memorable one. We have a great location to stage things from at the Palm Beach Watersports Centre on Lantau’s Cheung Sha beach, with a great flat water bay location at Shiu Hau as a complimentary competition site, giving us a lot of scope over the same location site to work with the possible variations in wind direction.

For all you spectator types based in Hong Kong or for those of you coming to watch we hope to hold a combination of course racing and freestyle competitions over the four days, with the final programme and order of things being decided by the wind and conditions on each day. Our winners then be finally announced on the final day of Hong Kong tour stop give us both male and female champions in each discipline at both the KTA international level and in a special Greater China class that continues the battle between the Hong Kong and mainland riders begun in the first round in Xiamen.

Our local organisers inform us that the team from China is already preparing itself for the trip, to defend their positions form the first round, so definitely one to be watching out for during the KTA. Then joining the teams from China will be riders from across the Asia region and even further, making the KTA a truly international affair. The KTA’s riders grant scheme will again be in action to fund a further rider to join the event in Hong Kong also, so don’t forget take a look and see it you can also get involved in some way.

For all you KTA riders and those about to join the tour in the Hong Kong round, please could we ask you to help us by pre-registering for the competitions you want to take part in through the online registration on this website. Also check and print off yourself a copy of the rules, so you know what’s what before you take part – with particular reference to the protest rules in the course racing and not entering the freestyle competition box when it is not your heat.

Don’t forget you might also want to pack a thin wetsuit as there seem to be a lot of chilly Northerly winds hitting Hong Kong at the moment, so could give you all some interesting conditions to ride in. It all adds to the challenge and the fun of a KTA event as does the party factor which being Hong Kong will have its own unique presentation.

So four days of great kiteboarding competition and Hong Kong life coming up.

See you there at the  KTA Hong Kong then!
