7 Stones KTA Philippines
With barely time to breath after finishing the highly successful 4th round tour stop in Thailand we are moving onto one of the tour’s favourite locations. Yes it’s back to the Asian kiteboarding hotbed, Boracay Island in the Philippines!
The KTA 5th round action will be taking place from the 8-12 March which is slightly earlier than originally publish when the Asia tour first went to press to accommodate the return of the PKRA World Pro-Tour, which again visits Asia in mid-March. So if you are so inclined you can now attend both events.
The Philippine tour stop is this year sponsored by 7 Stones Boracay Suites, which being based itself on Bulabog Beach the kiting centre of the island is also the location host for the competition. The event has been organised in conjunction with the Hangin and Greenyards kite centres along with the Boracay Watersports Association and the countries governing body the Philippine Watersposrts Association.
As well as great conditions, the promise of cranking winds and a party menu to saviour, riders entering this round of the KTA can look forward to a prize package worth more than US$10,000. With the key prizes coming in from our title brand sponsor Cabrinha, along with support from Maelstorm, Underground and Ozone. Plus as we close in towards the finals of this year’s KTA Asia Tour those all important tour and IKA world ranking points become all that more valuable in the final jostling for the top positions.
The 7 Stones KTA Philippines is also a very important event on the KTA calendar as it marks the official starting point for our new area of rider support through competition training opportunities. So not only do we have the KB4girls Pro Camp with Kristin Boese taking place during the event to coach and support the competing girls, we are also very pleased to be able to announce the return of the current European and 2009 World Course race Champion Bruno Sroka (Cabrinha).
Bruno first joined us for the second round in China and following the successful racing tips clinic he ran for us there it is great to be able to welcome him once again to the KTA tour party.
So come on all you course racers this is your chance to get some top tips, new technic and improve your race board skills at Bruno’s KTA Race Clinic. The free clinic will take place over two afternoons from 1pm – 4pm on the 7th and 8th March. So it starts the day before the KTA registration day and then finishes on registration day.
Day one will also have a short input from the KTA competition director Stephan Hertig to bring you up to date with some very recent IKA rule changes and to introduce you to the new Production Board class. Then Bruno will cover current race equipment, set-up, race tactics and competition preparation, before moving into practical tips on starting technic, race lines, gybing and tacking skills.
Day two gives you a further chance to join Bruno on the water to continue to work on those racing skills with direct coaching from him. It’s also a chance to ride with one of the sports best and finalise your own preparation for the competition.
To join Bruno’s KTA Race Clinic meet with him at the Greenyards Kiteboard centre at 1pm on Monday 7th March.
So, two golden opportunities to improve your competition chances with the KB4girls Pro-Camp and the Bruno Sroka KTA Race Clinic in what promises to be one hell of an event on Boracay.
Don’t forget that alongside all these training chances there is still four days of competition to unfold with freestyle and course racing which includes both race board and TT Class, plus of course the KTA Old Skool Project which went down a storm in Thailand and given the potential of stronger winds in Boracay should see the Old Skool master Mr Toby Bauer going large and stylee!
All that plus Normeth’s legendary party brew, awesome and definitely not one to miss. So put everything else on hold and get over to the 7 Stones KTA Philippines next week……..
