Important Update – Malaysia & Phuket Kings Cup

Well it’s still proving to be a challenging year, but as one door closes another one opens as they say, This certainly seems to be the case at this moment as we have to announce that unfortunately due to licencing and sponsorship constraints for this year the KTA Malaysia stop has had to be postponed until next season. It’s a great shame as we know everyone was excited at the prospect of visiting a new country on the tour, but it’s an adventure to save for next season and we are assured it will be worth the wait.

It’s not all not doom and gloom though for this side of Christmas as those opening and closing doors have brought a very exciting invitation our way in the form of the 25th Anniversary Kings Cup Regatta. This is one of Asia’s largest and perhaps most prestigious sailing regatta’s which has been taking place yearly since 1987 in Phuket. This year being a special year for them, they want to showcase kiteboarding course racing and have given the opportunity to the KTA to lead this. This is not only a great opportunity for the KTA but also for the sport in this region.  This event given its Royal patronage attracts worldwide media coverage and audiences. With multiple International TV networks following it closely.  We will post full information and details about the Kings Cup Regatta event over the next few days as this is a special open event rather than an Asian Tour round, Please watch the website closely as places to race at this event will be limited.

For the rest of the tour rounds we are still working hard on finalising all the last of those important details, but we should still have all of this sorted out for you as planned for the end of this month. Keep checking the website and the KTA Facebook page for all the updates and information.

There is also more to come from the KTA this season to complement the competitions further. This will include national level training developments to encourage more local fun and intro level competition opportunities, along with new coaching and training packages for riders to improve their skills and standards. We will update the website in the coming week to show the available courses and happenings as the are confirmed.

It’s going to be a great season and the wind is just starting to settle into its winter patterns, so here we go again ……….!
