ITA A Wrap
It’s a wrap on the 7800 KTA Turkey.
A challenging four days of competition, two with cross onshore, two with cross-offshore winds and a sneaky no wind day to party and kick back neatly slotted in the middle. At the end of it all it was one happy crowd of kiters that left Cesme from the stunning bay that houses 7800 who played host to the first round of the KTA 10/11 Asia Tour, with the support of Audi A1.
As our winners collected their prizes is was nice to hear from them that they appreciated the professionalism and confidence of the race team to take on the final days with the offshore wind conditions and give them the full finish to both the freestyle and course race competitions. So a big vote of respect to Stephan Hertig and his team who saw things through smoothly with the on water support from our guest race director from the IKA Markus Schwendtner.
The event in the end returned full freestyle double eliminators and nine course races, after opening with a killer Kiteloop competition and then closing out with a final Hangtime season. Even the no wind day was not all sit and chill as you can check out on the photo and video reports of the day, notice when you do the tidy skills of the riders as they wake style it out across the 7800 floating pontoon in the inspired and popular grab a bottle of beer competition. An off the cuff event that sums up the KTA approach to the whole competition malarkey, know when to be serious and compete at full power, but know when its time to have some fun and realise how lucky we are to be in these amazing spots thanks to this amazing sport. Our competition winners we of course salute for all their skill and effort, but for the KTA it is as equally import that the rider’s in the second half of the fleet also get a kick out of the competition and event wherever they finish and keep coming back again for more.

As well as great start to the tour in terms of results and days of competition, the winners of the first round have enjoyed their share of the biggest prize package the KTA has been able to offer to date, with cash prize purse of US$10,000 courtesy of Audi A1 and a further supporting US$10,000 of equipment from the tour’s title brand sponsor Cabrinha.
So a fantastic start all round and bigger things planned for the coming years here in Turkey, so watch this space as they say and lookout for the first of Frenchies video teasers to tie up this year. Next stop Hainan Island in China and we look forward to seeing you all there as the KTA moves on from the first point in Asia to the heartland of region.
