KTA 2017 Season Schedule Release

The flood gates are open and revealing a very sexy looking 2017 KTA season ahead.

Our aim for 2017 has been to have something in the mix for everyone. From top level world championship events, to travelling pro-tour visits, our own mad mix that is the KTA X-Champs and some juicy open events.  So come on you freestylers, TT racers, foil boarders, wave riders, big air junkies and even you paddlers – join us this year for some pure KTA style competition and fun!

As you will see from the schedule we still have one or two locations to lockdown fully and we would have liked to have had everything complete before putting it out. But time is against us and better you have the complete season potential to start making your plans. We will update and confirm everything as soon as we can, so be sure to watch this space.

Check out the season schedule on the home page  – http://www.kiteboardtour.asia/

Our season though is kicking off in real style with the Moose Asian TTR Championships over in Thailand at a favourite KTA competition haunt, Pak Nam Pran Beach in Pranburi. To this we are adding our own brand of freestyle, KTA Freestyle X for its first outing of the year. Joining us too with their first round of the Thai National Series, will be the Kitesurfing Association of Thailand (KAT) who are the local hosts and partners for the event.

There is a tidy prize haul to kick things off with too this year, with cash prizes of 200,000 BHT from our title sponsor Moose http://moosecider.com/ and 12,000 USD of equipment prizes from our key brand sponsors Cabrinha http://www.cabrinhakites.com/

As you all know by now TTR has been selected for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) and in early 2018 Thailand, KAT and the KTA will play host to the last of the 3 YOG Olympic trial qualifiers. Therefore the IKA has decided that for all TTR racing until the Youth Olympics, that the new YOG formats will be used. So get ready for an exciting season of fast reaching, TT slalom and boarder x. It’s going to be great fun to watch as the racers get to grips with this new challenge.

Freestyle X, well what can we say, it went down a storm when we launched it last season and we just can’t wait to get the show back out on the water again. For those of you that don’t know, Freestyle X combines both old and new skool tricks, in a format where the best move from each style gives you your final score. The format is still evolving and there are some new tweaks in there this year, like one rider jumping at a time. So be sure to check the freestyle NoR and the rules.

Next up to follow close on the heels of the Moose TTR Asian Championships, we will see KTA heading over to Singapore for the first time. Something completely new is in the wind, as we join with ADEX one of the world’s largest dive expo’s to support and launch a new Asian Surf Expo. This will be the first time Asia has had its own Surf Expo and we are excited to be a part of it. And although it will be a modest start for 2017, we fully expect things to grow in the coming years as the KTA Asian Surf Expo gets known.

But more of that in our next news release and until then – see you Thailand…
